Allen & Overy continues to expand its German Dispute Resolution practice with the appointment of Anna Masser, who is due to join the firm’s Frankfurt office as a partner on 1 February 2020. A respected international arbitration expert, she will head up Allen & Overy’s German Arbitration practice and will focus on international commercial arbitration in particular. She joins from Jones Day, where she was made partner at the beginning of the year.
With its export-oriented economy, Germany is one of the most important jurisdictions for arbitration proceedings and it is thus a logical step to grow in this area. Client demand in this area is also expected to increase in view of the anticipated economic slowdown and growing economic uncertainty. We have responded to this by recruiting Anna Masser, thereby realising a key objective within our growth strategy for Germany,” explained Thomas Ubber, Senior Partner at Allen & Overy Germany, adding: “We plan to continue development in this area in the future.
Dr Wolf Bussian, head of the German Dispute Resolution group, added: “Anna Masser is an excellent litigator and arbitration law expert who, in addition to broad ranging expertise in the energy sector, also boasts extensive international experience and has a good network in the market. She thus represents an ideal addition to our International Arbitration practice.
Anna Masser commented: “I made a very conscious decision to join Allen & Overy. The firm offers a wealth of expertise, both within the German dispute resolution group and across the international offices. Moreover, all members of staff set the bar very high in terms of their own performance, offering me the perfect opportunity to further develop my own arbitration practice. I look forward to working with my new colleagues in Germany and across A&O’s global network.
We’re delighted to welcome Anna to the international arbitration partnership at A&O,” commented Mark Levy QC, Global Co-Head of International Arbitration. “Anna’s hire is part of our continued investment in growing the practice through strategic hires of outstanding arbitration practitioners, who we believe are the leaders of the future. I have no doubt Anna will be a fantastic addition to our team and I look forward to working closely with her.
Anna Masser specialises in international commercial arbitration proceedings.
