Venue: Le Meridien, New Delhi
Summit Theme:
TAKE 1:
Make in India, Startup India, and now the Creative India – Innovate India rhymes are all in the air. Is it really all about India? The recently empowered IPR Policy has raised several questions as to what and how it will fair out to be in favour of the nation. With Startup India, Make in India continue as fevers when it comes to a Creative India – Innovative India? The industry mesmerizes over the 2 pronged thought environs that the policy has created. This adds up to the sector’s overall IPR scenario where of course the copyright wars continue with struggle for the much needed regulatory and infrastructural revamps. A dedicated session on Intellectual Property Rights to see if the gold rush is in real or is it just wooden talks.
TAKE 2:
The Indian M & E Industry has always been well known to be creating debates and deliberations as and when there have been instances of such sorts. No doubt there will always been a sigh of debate between the 2 sides of the M & E coin when it comes to Regulations. However, while the sector is transitioning in terms of finding out means and ways that can create a balance within business interests and regulatory affairs, it is also imperative to understand the importance of ‘being regulated’.
The session focuses on the maverick rides and the industry appetite towards recent regulatory updates. Experts come together to discuss the overall Regulatory Ambience of the Sector and see what all has it gained in the last year and what all is yet to be lost.
TAKE 3:
The Indian M & E Industry has several swings in action that are rolling out content in newer formats. However, smart and innovative these formats maybe, there seems to be biased or rather an open ended space in which these formats are wild hunting. While on one hand audiences are cheering up to the new era of media coming in, one might need to ponder over the impact on the traditional media and technology sets.
The session deliberates upon the legal and regulatory myths that revolve around the new age media formats coming in and the imperative role of technology game changers that big tickets like Cloud Computing bring into the sector. The session focusses on the roaring New Age Media & Technology that has taken the sector to a different pedestal altogether.
TAKE 4:
It all boils down to finance and moneys. While the Indian M & E Sector is poised towards sky scraping turnovers and bottom lines, it is important to see that the financing and taxation related matters are well deliberated upon and keep changing as per the evolution needs of the industry. The industry has liberalized from self-financing in case of films to FDIs and other smart funding options – and this is exactly what has to continue in terms of other related strides like taxation, etc.
The session gives us an overall insight on the sector. Amidst all the legal and regulatory fevers, finance takes its own place and has a monstrous wave behind. The panel will deliberate upon the various perspectives and paradigm shifts that Finance & Taxation can impact the sector with.
TAKE 5:
It is high time that the pirates of the world get a lesson. While on one hand there seems to be a dedicated effort and consciousness towards curbing and beating piracy to death but we are yet to see a world where creativity and innovation have beaten the piracy traps to death. India has to go through a sea of changes and shift its gears towards a more robust and enforcement driven approach when it comes to privacy.
The session focusses on all the para spheres of piracy right from probable strategies to curb it and some good steps that have already been taken. Where there are friends, there are foes, even more in number. The session ponders over what’s new in tackling the Piracy Environment in terms of alternate strategies and enforcement as well.
