Global law firm Dentons has advised a group of promissory note holders of BMZ Holding GmbH in the battery manufacturer’s self-administration proceedings. Dentons represented the creditor group in connection with the assertion of their rights to separate satisfaction in the context of the sale of the essential operating subsidiaries of BMZ Holding to SKion. Following approval by the antitrust authorities, the transaction was completed on February 25, 2026. This clears the way for the company to make a fresh start under new ownership and management.

SKion is now the sole owner of the group. After insolvency proceedings were opened in October 2025, SKion supported the company as a minority shareholder and provided bridge financing.

The BMZ Group, based in Karlstein am Main, is a leading international manufacturer of high-performance battery systems and a long-term technology partner for the electrification and decarbonization of key industries. Its battery systems are used worldwide in a wide variety of products from well-known brands.

SKion is an investment company founded by Susanne Klatten. It invests in companies with sustainably successful business models.

The promissory note holders were advised by partner Andreas Ziegenhagen and senior associate Tobias Schröter.
