Forensic Breakthrough in Kidnapping of Chris Baggs in Sydney.

Chris Baghsarian, 85, went missing in Sydney, the nature of which was considered suspicious by the police. The police have pointed out early in the case that the case is being handled like a suspected kidnapping and not a normal missing-person case. This classification implies that investigators found the traces of coercion, forced movement, or traces that do not allow for the voluntary disappearance.

One of the big changes came when a car that was suspected to have been used in the disappearance of Mr Baghsarian was found burnt in the bush. Police are establishing the fire as intentional. Origin-and-cause analysis by fire scene investigators was done to ascertain the usage of accelerants and blaze staging to cover up evidence. Criminal case vehicles are also regularly burned as a way of destroying trace evidence in the form of fingerprints, DNA, fibres, blood traces or digital devices. Material evidence was allegedly found in the vehicle following a terribly damaged vehicle amidst the fire. Though the nature of the evidence has not been revealed by the authorities, these types of recoveries are usually partial DNA samples, metal fragments carrying traces of tools, number plate identifiers, chassis markings, or fragments of electronic modules containing vehicle movement data.

The number of search operations increased on the burn site and other relevant locations. In bushland regions, ground crews were systematically searching the territory with grid-search methods, with the assistance of aerial units to determine the presence of disturbed ground or abandoned objects. Police also made a public request for dashcam and CCTV film of motorists and neighbouring properties during certain time periods. This would suggest that investigators are developing a movement chronology and probably tracing the route the vehicle took prior to it being lseton fire.

Currently, law enforcement does not release the names of possible suspects or an arrest. They also have not revealed whether Mr Baghsarian is supposedly alive. The lack of elaborate updates to the general public is an indication that investigators are not giving out operational details to avoid evidence interference and not to ruin possible leads.
