Global law firm Clifford Chance has advised ExxonMobil on its agreement with the New Generation Gas Gathering (NG3) project to transport and store up to 1.2 million metric tons a year (MTA) of CO2 from NG3’s planned facility in Louisiana.
This work continues the firm’s work for ExxonMobil, with Jonathan Castelan leading the Clifford Chance team.
NG3 plans to gather and treat natural gas produced in east Texas and Louisiana for delivery to US Gulf Coast markets, including for LNG export. Pursuant to this agreement, NG3 is to utilize ExxonMobil’s extensive carbon capture storage infrastructure, including 1,300 miles of CO2Â pipelines across the US Gulf Coast.
Castelan commented, “It was a privilege to work with the ExxonMobil on this agreement.”
Castelan was supported by associates Sam Bentley and Hillary Healey, with partner Alex Leff advising on Tax related matters.
