Dentons has appointed partner Wesley Boldewijn (Amsterdam) as Co-head of the Europe Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) group, alongside existing TMT Co-head Karol Laskowski.
As a partner in the Tax practice, Wesley Boldewijn advises clients on Dutch, European and international taxation issues, with a special focus on the taxation of the digital economy. He supports technology companies and companies in other sectors on tax issues related to their transition to the new economy, including the taxation of digital and online services. He also advises more broadly on corporate tax, tax structuring of M&A deals and investments, tax treaty application, tax policy, and tax litigation.
He will co-lead with Warsaw-based partner Karol Laskowski, a partner in the Intellectual Property, Data and Technology practice, who advises various TMT clients on intellectual property, media, telecommunications, privacy and trademarks.
Wesley Boldewijn commented on his appointment, “With all eyes on technology and its impact on the world, it’s an exciting time to be taking on this role. As the legal landscape catches up to the rate at which economies are digitalizing, our clients are facing both challenges and opportunities. I am very much looking forward to working even more closely together with our talented colleagues across Europe to further leverage our combined strategic capabilities and help our clients stay ahead.”
“With the unprecedented pace of development of technology and AI, all businesses are now technology businesses, so the TMT sector is a high priority for our clients and our Firm,” said Tomasz Dąbrowski, Chief Executive Officer of Dentons Europe. “Wesley is a rising star partner who brings not only technical competence, but also an innovative mindset to this leadership role. He and Karol have complementary skills that will help broaden and deepen our offering for clients in this strategic sector.”
Karol Laskowski said, “I am very excited to share leadership responsibilities with Wesley. We are both focused very much on the development of technology, media and telecommunications clients, but we bring different perspectives and different products which we can offer. That, among other things, makes us a very good team and together we will continue to raise Dentons’ profile in the TMT sector.”
