Herbert Smith Freehills has hired Anthony Patten as a corporate partner focussed on energy in Singapore.
Anthony adds bench strength to the firm’s respected Asia energy team through his understanding of the energy industry and sector-wide experience, particularly in energy transition investments.
“Anthony adds deep energy expertise to the team, from traditional projects to the new energy technologies that will drive the energy transition,” said Asia head of CorporateĀ Andrew Blacoe.
“His appointment will give a boost to our energy team as energy transition projects drive record investment and client demand.”
Anthony joins a regional team that spans Asia from offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Singapore and Tokyo, and that works seamlessly as part of the firm’s 700-strong global energy team.

Anthony advises on the newest energy technologies, including renewables, hydrogen, ammonia and carbon capture, as well as corporate, project development and finance advisory in the international oil and gas/energy industries. His three decades of experience includes six years with Shell in London and Dubai, and advising clients on investments in Africa, North and South America, Europe and Asia. Anthony graduated with a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Melbourne and is qualified in Australia and England & Wales. He joins Herbert Smith Freehills from King & Spalding in Singapore.
