Perplexity.ai, an AI software led search and discovery engine, has announced it has raised US$25.6 million in a Series A funding round. The investment was led by Peter Sonsini of New Enterprise Associates (Board member, Databricks) with participation from seed round investors Elad Gil (Founder, Color Health), Nat Friedman (Former CEO of GitHub), Jeff Dean (SVP, Google AI), and Bob Muglia (Former President of Microsoft), as well as new investors Susan Wojcicki (Former CEO of Youtube), Paul Buchheit (Creator of Gmail), Soleio (Designer of Messenger, Dropbox), and Databricks Ventures.
Latham & Watkins LLP represents Perplexity in the financing with a corporate team led by Bay Area partners Ben Potter and Michael Podolny, with associate Justin Tzeng. Advice was also given on intellectual property matters by Bay Area partners Tony Klein and Michelle Gross; and on benefits and compensation matters by Bay Area partner Ashley Wagner.
