Global law firm DLA Piper has advised ATI Global on its GBP170 million acquisition of UK based location intelligence business Groundsure, a leading supplier of environmental searches, data, mapping and reports for the UK property market, from Ascential plc (Ascential) (LSE: ASCL).

Headquartered in Sydney, ATI Global is a global leader in legal technology, software and information services, with a deep heritage of continued technology innovation and customer excellence.

Groundsure provides location intelligence services which give professionals, businesses and homebuyers expert information on risks including land contamination, flooding and ground stability.

The acquisition of Groundsure will build upon ATI Global’s suite of smart technology that make businesses more productive by transforming customer workflow, profitability and growth.

DLA Piper’s cross-border team was led by Head of Corporate Australia Grant Koch, with senior foreign legal associate Hannah Jones, solicitors Claudia McEwen and Julia Krapeshlis. Lawyers from DLA Piper in the UK also supported the transaction, led by Corporate partner Jon Hayes and associate Josie Millichamp. Intellectual Property and Technology partner Amanda Pilkington assisted with transitional arrangements, while Litigation and Regulatory partner Alexandra Kamerling advised on competition matters.

DLA Piper Head of Corporate Australia Grant Koch said “There is always strong alignment for us when we work with global technology clients like ATI Global, as we have one of the most active technology M&A practices globally and a commitment to partnering with innovative and transformative technology clients. It was a pleasure to work with ATI Global on this acquisition and to support them in their goal to provide a greater suite of smart technology and decision making software to their clients.”
