Allen & Overy has announced that Philip Bowden and Vicki Liu have been appointed as co-heads of its global Banking practice and David Broadley and Dirk Meeus have been appointed as co-heads of its global Corporate practice.
Each is appointed to a four-year term, effective 1 May 2020. The appointments follow internal consultations by Independent Partner Directors and a confirmatory vote by the relevant practice group.
The announcement sees Vicki Liu step into the role as a co-head of Banking for the first time, succeeding Andrew Thomas who is stepping down from the role after four years. David Broadley has been newly appointed as a co-head of global Corporate, succeeding Richard Browne who is also stepping down and has been in the role since 2016, having previously been London head of Corporate. Philip Bowden and Dirk Meeus have both been reappointed to their roles for a second term.
Allen & Overy senior partner Wim Dejonghe comments: “As we move forward in these challenging times for us and our clients, strong and thoughtful leadership is needed more than ever. We’re very pleased to announce these appointments, which bring together a wealth of experience, to lead our Banking and Corporate practices for the coming four years. I have no doubt that they will build on the significant success their practices have seen and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Andrew and Richard for their hard work in their time as co-heads.”
