Madras High Court granted the permission to bury DMK chief M Karunanidhi’s mortal remains behind Anna Samadhi on Marina beach. On DMK plea against the order of Denial of Burial place at Marina Beach by Tamil Nadu Govt, Acting Chief Justice of Madras High agrees to hear the plea at residence yesterday 10.A.M. the hearing took place and was adjourn to today 8 A.M.

The mausoleum complex at the Marina beach is where the Dravidian icon’s mentor CN Annadurai, friend-turned-foe MG Ramachandran and rival J Jayalalithaa have been laid to rest. The Live timeline of this case is as follows:

 

 

 

DMK’s lawyer says, “Anna, who is the founder of DMK, used to say my life & soul is Karunanidhi. Burying Karunanidhi next to Gandhi Mandapam cannot be termed as a decent burial.”

 

Madras high court records contents of counter affidavit filed by Tamil Nadu government. The acting chief justice records in his order submissions made by DMK organising secretary RS Bharathi in his affidavit seeking place in Marina for Karunanidhi. State governement, in its counter affidavit, says DMK cannot challenge a press release issued by government expressing inability to allot space at Marina for Karunanidhi. “M Karunanidhi himself did not allot Marina for Janaki Ramachandran after understanding the protocol manual when he was the Chief Minister,” says Tamil Nadu’s counter affidavit.

Court Adjourns hearing to 8 AM on 8th August Morning.
