Mr. Vijay Mallya, who has been accused in a slew of cases including a case of fraud of Rs. 9000 crores, is all set to appear in the London Court, for the hearing of his extradition case. The Liquor Barron, has been on a bail, since the hearing in April.

The London Court had observed that the Indian Judiciary had failed to produce the sufficient evidence against the accused, but had stated that it had excellent cooperation with the Indian Courts and were ready and willing to proceed with the hearing.

Earlier, Earlier, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had reported that a total of 53 people, including Mr. Mallya were facing prosecution complaints from the Directorate of Enforcement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002, and who had been absconding.

Mr. Mallya had reportedly fled to Britain in March 2016 after being pursued for recovery of Rs 8,191 crore owed to a consortium of 17 Indian banks by his now defunct Kingfisher Airlines. He was arrested and granted bail in London on April 18 by the Scotland Yard on an extradition warrant.

The judges have set December 4 as the start date for a final hearing in the case, and if the Chief Magistrate rules in favour of extradition at the end of the trial, the British Home Secretary must order Mallya’s extradition within two months since the day of the judgment.
