The Surana & Surana International Technology Law Moot has been conceived with the aim of creating awareness of the latest technological developments and providing a platform for development of skills required for addressing the techno-legal issues arising out of it.The judgment writing competition will be a part of Surana & Surana International Technology Law Moot Court Competition
Date: 21st – 23rd August, 2015
Venue: Symbiosis Law School, Pune
Eligibility:
The competition is open only for students who are pursuing LL.B (three year or five year programme) during the current academic year. To augment technology related research a team have the option of having only one student member (must be an undergraduate) from technology / science discipline (other than law), from any institution approved by the HOD or the Head of the Institution.
Team Composition:
- The team shall consist of three members (including the technology / science student member) i.e. two speakers and one researcher. A team may also consist of only two speakers with the express permission of the Administrators.
- The researcher shall not be allowed to speak except under special circumstances and only with the express permission of the Administrators.
- The identity of the team must not be disclosed to the judges. Any such disclosure shall lead to disqualification.
Registration:
- There will be a two-tier Registration Procedure. The participating colleges shall have to register both with ‘Surana & Surana International Attorneys’ and ‘Symbiosis Law School, Pune’. The registration opens on 14th May 2015.
- Registration with Surana & Surana International Attorneys
- The teams must register online at www.mootsite.com / www.moot.in by 18th July, 2015.
- Online registrations shall be open from 14th May, 2015. Participants will receive an acknowledgement-cum-approval as confirmation of their online registration & participation within a week.
- A scanned copy of the letter from the participating College / Institution / University duly signed by any one of the following authorities: Faculty-incharge for Moot Court Cell / Society / Association, Registrar, Principal, Dean, Director, Chancellor or Vice-Chancellor. The authority must confirm the Names and Year / Semester of the participants who are representing the College / Institution / University for the Moot Competition which will have to be attached during the online registration process (The approval letter shall be printed on the letterhead of the participating Institution / College /University alternatively you may use the registration form itself)
- Registrations without the scanned copy of the approval letter from the College / Institution / University or duly attested registration form will not be valid.
- Once the online registration is done, no change in names will be accepted. However, in exceptional circumstances if a change in name is inevitable, a fresh online registration have to be made along with a scanned copy of the approval letter from the College / Institution / University or duly attested registration form clearly explaining the reasons for the change and with authorized signature & seal of the College / Institution / University.

- The participating Colleges are required to email the Soft Copy of the Registration Form by 18th July, 2015 to surana.moot@symlaw.ac.in
- Participants must carry the hard copy with themselves when they arrive for the competition.
- No change in the names of the participants shall be permitted after the receipt of the Registration Form, except at the sole discretion of the Administrators.
Judgment Writing Competition:
Eligibility:
The Judgment Writing Competition is open to only the teams participating in the Surana & Surana International Technology Law Moot Court Competition.
Structure:
The structure of the judgment will reflect the forum / court in which the moot case is set and argued.
Submission:
- The judgment should be written and submitted in .doc or .docx format on the last day of the International Moot Court Competition, i.e. on 23rd August, 2015.
- Participation in Judgment Writing Competition is compulsory for all the teams and researcher from each team shall represent the team in the competition.
Hospitality:
- The Administrator will provide accommodation and boarding only during the dates of the Competition.
- The Administrator will not provide any travel allowances but may take care of local conveyance.
- The Local teams shall not be provided with accommodation or travel assistance.
- Furthermore, the organizers are only responsible for picking up teams from the place of arrival. Conveyance shall be provided from the accommodation to the venue during the Competition. The organizers shall not be responsible for providing conveyance after the Moot and for the departure of the participants.
- Accommodation to the participants shall be provided from 21st August, 2015, 12:00 noon to 24th August, 2015, 12:00 noon only
- The organizers shall be providing separate accommodation for boys and girls.
- Participants desiring to reach early or depart late must make their own arrangement for stay earlier / beyond the time stipulated above and should inform the Administrators by 15th August, 2015.
- The teams would be responsible for any damage at the place of stay and would have to compensate for the same
- The Administrators will not be responsible. All the queries and clarifications regarding the moot proposition must be mailed to the administrators on surana.moot@symlaw.ac.in with a copy to mootcourt@lawindia.com with the subject as “Clarifications: 14th Surana & Surana International Technology Moot Court Competition, 2015.” latest by 15th July, 2015.
The last date for sending the Travel Plan to Symbiosis Law School, Pune is 10th August, 2015.
