The IASLA Space Law Moot Court Competition is committed to fairness, equality, and integrity as it strives to provide university students around the world an opportunity to explore international space law through advocacy, debate, and academic and cultural exchange.
Each year, universities throughout the Asia Pacific region are invited to participate in the IASLA Space Law Moot Court Competition, organised by the International Air and Space Law Academy.
The 2018 Asia Pacific Regional Rounds will be held from Tuesday, 3 April 2018 to Friday, 6 April 2018 in Sydney, Australia. Teams compete in 4 preliminary rounds in a round-robin format before advancing to the Regional Finals. The Regional Champions will then advance to the International Finals, scheduled for Thursday, 28 June 2018 and Friday, 29 June 2018 in Washington, D.C., United States of America.
In order to participate, all you need is 2 to 4 students that want to expand their knowledge in space law and gain valuable experience in international mooting. While knowledge of space law may be an asset, we have found that teams without prior training and experience in space law or even lacking in coaches have been very competitive in space law moot court competitions.
In the Asia Pacific Regional Rounds, we have specific coordinators appointed in selected countries to promote the Competition, assist teams in their registration process and, in some cases, to pursue the organisation of Domestic Funding Rounds to finance teams to participate in the Competition after securing sufficient sponsorship in the near future.
