Guru Nanak Dev University was established at Amritsar on November 24, 1969 to mark the 500th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It is both a residential and an affiliating university. In conceiving the future course of the University, the objectives enshrined in the GNDU Act 1969, emphasized that the new University would make provision for imparting education and promoting research in the humanities, learned professions, sciences, especially of applied nature and technology.

Proposed Salary: ₹ 15, 600/- to ₹ 39, 100/- +₹ 7, 600/- GP+2500 SP
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- A. or LL.B. with at least 55% marks from a recognized University or an equivalent thereof.
- Atleast 7 years of experience of working in responsible position in an educational institution or Govt. office, preferably with experience of administration at College/University, such as Principal, Head of the Department, Bursar, Registrar (Exams.), Lecturer, Assistant Registrar etc
- Must have passed Punjabi upto Matric Standard. OR II. An internal candidate, having M.A. or LL.B. degree with not less than 15 years of service in Guru Nanak Dev University out of which he/she must have worked as Assistant Registrar for a period of not less than three years. OR II. An internal candidate having Graduate degree with not less than 20 years of service in Guru Nanak Dev University out of which he/she must have worked as Assistant Registrar for a period of not less than three years.
